The student who was simply identified as Samson, was until his death a 400 level student of the Taraba State University. He took his life this week, precisely on Wed. the 26th and was angry about his inability to pay school fees for a sibbling placed under his care. This resulted in a bitter quarrel with his elder sister bordering on the matter. Later that evening Samson took his life. The final year student left a suicide note in his pocket, where he indicated that he could not continue to face challenges that would be troubling his mind. In the note he also discouraged youths from sucide saying;
"committing suicide is not a solution to any problem but a gate way to entire condemnation."
Samson took his own life by drinking an unidentified poisonous substance.
His elder sister who pleaded anonymity told newsmen that she only asked her brother to provide the receipts of the payment of his younger ones' tuition fee, stressing that "Sam just felt offended because she asked of the receipt."A close friend of the late Samson, who was also his roommate, expressed dismay at the ugly incident and wondered why Sam committed suicide. While narrating that he had woken up to discover that Sam wasn't in the room, he said, "We have gone so far in our education and we are thinking of graduating after all the struggles from 100 to 400 level. I wonder why Samson would think of doing something like that," he said.
May his soul find peace. . . Amen.
