That's the latest my people! According to Telegraphng.com, The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that the students that have written the Post-UME examinations during the university lecturers' strike will have to rewrite the exams as lecturers did not engage in the exercise.
The zonal coordinator of the union, Adeola Nassir, made this known at a conference organised by the Ibadan Zone of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the Lagos State University, Ojo, saying that said the leadership of the universities that have conducted the examination hurriedly did so because ofthe financial gains accruable from the candidates.
"It is an abnormality," Nassir said. "How can you hold such an important examination without the input of academic staff?"
"Vice-chancellors are employing non-academic staff and consultants to do Post-UME. They are doing it because of money. The exam already constitutes a crisis-point in the universities."
Nassir noted that the "results from the examination may be rejected" owing to the fact that universities in Nigeria would want students to pass better in the internally organised exam as a student's score is gotten from the average of JAMB and the post UME exam.
Present at the conference were the University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Ibadan (UI), Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Lagos State University (LASU), University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), and Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) which are also the members of the Ibadan zone of ASUU.
